Race Report: Raceway Park Northeast Classic March 30, 2008

By Scott Lukaitis
Round 2 of the 16th annual Northeast Classic Motocross series took place at Raceway Park in Englishtown NJ this past weekend. More than 650 racers took part in the long running series and 56 motos were run showing that motocross racing is alive and well in the Garden State.
From the youngest racers all the way to the veterans the challenging Mickey Kessler prepared track held up well under the racers onslaught.
The youngest classes on the day were won by Bryton Carroll in the 50cc 4-6 stock, David Milana in the 50cc 7-8 stock and Duke Gomez in the 50cc 4-8 Auto/Shifter class.
(#25 David Milana)

The Hartranft brothers of nearby Brick were both class winners on the day as well with younger brother Brandon taking the 65cc 7-9 class and Jacob taking the 85cc 9-11 class.

(#20 Brandon Hartranft)

Luke Renzland showed that he would be a major player in the mini ranks this season by winning all 6 of his motos taking home 3 overall victories.

In his first season on the big bikes Team Green's AJ Catanzaro was the top rider in the 250 "B" and Schoolboy 4-stroke class.

Expert class action saw Jay Weller's 2-1 moto scores beat Ashlee Woskob's 1-4 in the 250 Expert class.

And Jacob Morrison's 2-1 motos beat the 3-3 of Barry Carsten for the overall.

Carsten did go on to win both the 30+ and 40+ expert classes to round out his afternoon.
