Support Your Sport MX -press release

From-
Support Your Sport MX Goes Live
- press release -
Oceanside, CA (March 24, 2008) - SUPPORT YOUR SPORT MX (SYSMX) announced today the launch of its website www.SupportYourSportMX.com. The sole purpose of the site is to offer a "hub" for anyone and everyone who is interested in supporting various charitable organizations dedicated to helping injured or ailing riders and those connected to the sport of motocross.
In addition to topical press releases, photos and feature stories about various organizations and companies who have made a difference, the site will regularly feature interviews with injured pro and recreational riders who have risen above their unique and individual challenges. The site will also offer links to a handful of non-profit organizations to learn more about each specific cause and ways to help.
"We want to help raise awareness for the various special causes and for those in need," said SYSMX founder Mike Koger. "Support Your Sport MX is a portal to all the wonderful charities, companies and individuals devoted to helping others, the promotion of safety and the betterment of the sport of motocross, and bringing them all under one roof."
While there are dozens of foundations, projects, and websites in place to offer help and financial funding for injured riders, the goal of SYSMX is to raise awareness for safety and gain maximum exposure for charities, their individual causes, and special fundraising needs. All this as it relates to all the countless expenses associated with victims of motocross accidents, born ailments and the medical research necessary to combat the long term and often crippling effects of series injury and disease.
SYSMX is also a stout supporter of those who manufacture, distribute and advocate the use of safety equipment, as well as tracks and organizations that practice and adopt important riding safety measures.
The sport we are all endeared to is an "action" sport, which can be dangerous. As a result, there will always be a need for charitable organizations, support of the industry and simply people who care.

AMA announces Trophy Team for 08 ISDE

From the AMA press release:

AMA announces Trophy Team for 2008 International Six Days Enduro

- press release -

PICKERINGTON, Ohio-The American Motorcyclist Association is pleased to announce the U.S. Trophy Team that will take on the world at the 2008 International Six Days Enduro in Serres, Greece. For the 83rd ISDE, the following riders will contest the World Trophy Team Championship for Team USA: Destry Abbott, Kurt Caselli, Ricky Dietrich, Jimmy Jarrett, Nathan Kanney and Nathan Woods.

"We are extremely honored to have riders of this caliber representing the United States at the ISDE," said AMA Off-Road Racing Director Chuck Weir. "Thanks to new selection procedures this year, we're able to name our Trophy Team much earlier than in the past. This not only allows us to field our best riders, but it gives everyone involved an opportunity to be as prepared as possible to represent the United States at this storied international event."
One veteran on Team USA this year will be the 35-year-old Abbott, who is contesting the AMA FMF Racing National Hare & Hound Series for Monster Energy Kawasaki. The four-time AMA National Hare & Hound Champion is a two-time ISDE Gold Medalist and will be representing the United States on the Trophy Team for the fourth time. It will be his fifth time competing in the event.

"The team is very prepared this year. All six of us are committed and see this as a true team effort. We want to do what's best for the team and we're going to do whatever it takes," said Abbott, who is planning to ride a Kawasaki KX450.
Jimmy Jarrett, 31, also brings several years of experience to the team. Jarrett races off-road events for Team FMF Suzuki. This will be the Ohioan's fifth year representing the United States on the Trophy Team.

"It's really cool for riders of different teams here in the U.S. to come together for this event," said Jarrett, who is planning to ride a Suzuki RM250 in the ISDE. "It doesn't matter what kind of bike you're riding or who you race for here. When we go to the ISDE, we're all riding for one team, one goal."

On the other end of the ISDE-experience spectrum is the team's ISDE rookie, Nathan Woods. The 30-year-old races off-road for Team FMF Suzuki and competes in the AMA Endurocross series.

"I'm really looking forward to the ISDE format. I'm looking at it like a great trail ride with a race in between it all. Then going to a different country, riding different terrain and meeting different people, it's going to be awesome," said Woods, who expects to ride a fuel-injected RMZ450 at the ISDE. "We have a great chance this year. We have the talent. We have the drive. We're not going to get second place. Our goal is to win."

Probably the most decorated rider returning to the team is Caselli. The 24-year-old, who races off-road events for Red Bull KTM, led the ISDE overall during a significant portion of last year's event in La Serena, Chile, and ultimately won the E3 class. In 2006, Caselli also was a member of the championship Junior Trophy Team. This will be Caselli's second time representing the United States on the Trophy Team.

Ricky Dietrich, 20, joined Caselli on the championship 2006 Junior Trophy Team and currently races off-road events for Monster Energy Kawasaki. This will be Dietrich's first time representing the United States on the Trophy Team and his second time at the ISDE.

Nathan Kanney, 25, is currently contesting the AMA Grand National Cross Country series for Red Bull KTM. Kanney is an experienced ISDE and World Enduro Championship rider.

The Trophy Team is one of three premier teams that represent the United States at the ISDE. The Trophy Team features six riders who compete in all three displacement classes that contest the ISDE: the E1 class, which features 100cc to 125cc two-stroke and 175cc to 250cc four-stroke motorcycles; the E2 class, which features 175cc to 250cc two-stroke and 290cc to 450cc four-stroke motorcycles; and the E3 class, which features 290cc to 500cc two-stroke and 475cc to 650cc four-stroke motorcycles.

The other premier teams are the Junior Trophy Team, which fields four riders younger than 23-years old, competing in a minimum of two classes, and the Women's Trophy Team, which fields three riders.

While the Trophy Team, the Junior Trophy Team and the Women's Trophy Team are a critical part of the U.S. effort at the ISDE, they are only a small part of the entire U.S. contingent that makes the trek to the annual event. Dozens of club teams, to be partially determined this year by qualifier events on May 3-4 in New Lisbon, N.J., and May 31-June 1 in Idaho City, Idaho, will also represent the United States at the 2008 ISDE.

While the riders are clearly the most important part of the ISDE program, it wouldn't happen without a solid group of dedicated sponsors. Some of the companies who are making Team USA a possibility in 2008 are: Arai Helmets, Spectro Lubricants, Kenda Tires, Bob Lamphere's Beaverton Honda Yamaha, MSR/Tucker Rocky and Mountain Glass.

Everyone can help support Team USA and look good while doing it by buying an official Team USA ISDE T-Shirt. All the proceeds help get the riders, bikes and crew to Greece (and back). To buy a shirt, just visit www.AMADirectlink.com, click on Gift Shop, then select Apparel.

For more information on the ISDE and Team USA, please see www.AMADirectlink.com/amrace/2008/isde.

NPG Supports AMA Pro Racing Announcement of Daytona Motorsports Purchase
- press release -

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. (March 7, 2008) – The National Promoters Group (NPG) released an official statement in support of today’s announcement made by AMA Pro Racing at the Daytona International Speedway.

AMA Pro Racing announced that the Daytona Motorsports Group (DMG) has purchased the rights to all AMA Pro Racing motorcycle racing properties, including the venerable AMA Toyota Motocross Championship Presented by FMF.

An official statement was immediately released by the NPG’s president Carrie Coombs Russell who represents the 12 track owners that are currently under contract to produce the 2008 AMA Toyota Motocross Championship Presented by FMF.

“We are pleased with today’s announcement that AMA Pro Racing is turning things over to a company with the success and racing heritage that the Daytona Motorsports Group brings to our sport. The NPG and its 12 track owners continue their commitment to the long-term growth of AMA Motocross and look forward to developing a successful working relationship with DMG. The NPG has been instrumental in raising the level of professionalism of motocross racing in the U.S. but we also realize our job is not done. We have developed an aggressive and comprehensive plan that encompasses all areas of the series. From competitive issues to event site upgrades to overall fan interaction, the NPG will implement a series of programs designed to improve the overall look and feel of AMA Motocross. We feel strongly about our direction and future success for our series, its riders, teams and sponsors. In time we will learn of the inner workings of the business arrangements made by AMA Pro Racing with DMG and how our two organizations can capitalize on each other’s strengths. This was a positive announcement for motocross in the U.S. and we’re looking forward to another great summer of racing.”

AMA selects Daytona Motorsports Group to manage professional racing series
- press release -

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla.--The American Motorcyclist Association (AMA) announced today that the Association has entered into an agreement in principle to sell the sanctioning, promotional and management rights for its AMA Pro Racing properties to the Daytona Motorsports Group (DMG), based in Daytona Beach, Florida.

Led by Roger Edmondson, the founder of the CCS motorcycle racing series and currently the President of the Grand American Road Race Series LLC, and Jim France, Vice Chairman/Executive Vice President of NASCAR, DMG will assume responsibility for the AMA Superbike Series, the AMA Motocross Series, the AMA Flat Track Series, the AMA Supermoto Series, the AMA Hillclimb Series and ATV Pro Racing. The agreement in principle does not include the AMA Supercross and AMA Arenacross Series, the rights to which are held by Live Nation. Daytona Motorsports Group will license the use of the AMA name and trademarks to promote their motorcycle racing activities.

"For as long as I can remember, the AMA name has been synonymous with professional motorcycle racing in America," said France. Added Edmondson, "Our goal is to guide the sport into the mainstream of American culture and showcase the extraordinary abilities of the competitors and their teams."

"We are honored to be working with the Daytona Motorsports Group," said AMA President and CEO Rob Dingman. "This group of individuals has supported the AMA and motorcycle racing for decades. There isn't a better-resourced or more qualified entity in which to entrust the future of AMA Pro Racing."

The agreement between the AMA and DMG came as a result of an RFP (request for proposal) process undertaken by the AMA in September, 2007 to seek promotional partners for its professional racing series. The AMA will continue sanctioning amateur motorcycle racing and club activities.

"Today is a great day for professional motorcycle racing and for the AMA," Dingman said. "By placing AMA Pro Racing in the hands of people with a proven record of excellence in motor sports organization and promotion in a fashion similar to our successful partnership with Live Nation, the AMA will be able to focus its resources on its core mission to be a member advocacy organization."
